Bowling Closes Out Regular Season Sunday

The #25 Valparaiso University bowling team finished up its regular season action with the final day of competition at the Big Red Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. on Sunday.

How It Happened

  • Competing in the best-of-seven baker format, Valpo opened Sunday’s play against #2 McKendree. After falling behind 3-0, the Crusaders notched 187-184 and 219-173 victories to close within 3-2 before dropping game six, 214-189, as McKendree closed out the 4-2 decision.
  • Valpo closed out the tournament against #24 Lincoln Memorial, winning each of the first two games – including a 233 effort in game two – en route to eventually going ahead, 3-1. But Lincoln Memorial won each of the next two games – including a narrow three-pin win in game six – and then took game seven, 194-165, as the Crusaders fell by a 4-3 final.

Next Up

Valpo (43-41) will open postseason play at the Southland Bowling League Championship in three weeks. Action from the three-day event in Dallas, Texas begins on Friday, March 23.
