Valpo Places League-Best Nine Bowlers on SBL Academic Honor Roll

The Valpo bowling program was well represented Wednesday as the Southland Bowling League released its 2019-20 Academic Honor Roll, as the Brown and Gold placed nine bowlers on the list, tied for league-high honors. This marks the second straight season that Valpo has paced the SBL in Academic Honor Roll honorees.

Five of Valpo’s recipients earned the honor for a second straight season: junior Payton Bertermann (Grayslake, Ill./North), junior Hannah Forton (Macomb, Mich./Dakota), senior Becky Lohse (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton), junior Sam Perez (Aurora, Ill./Oswego East) and junior Mirica Yancey (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley).

A quartet of first-time honorees joined the aforementioned five as well: freshman Noelle Doody (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew), sophomore Allura Magsino (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates), senior Morgan Peacha (Henderson, Nev./Foothill) and junior Jess Soskich (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove).

Honorees must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average and must have completed one full year at the institution. In all, 58 SBL student-athletes earned a spot on the SBL Academic Honor Roll this year.
