Valpo Bowling Recognized for Academic Excellence

Six members of the Valpo bowling team earned All-Academic recognition from the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) for the 2019-20 campaign, while Valpo also earned academic honors as a team from the NTCA for the fifth straight season. Valpo Bowling has had at least three bowlers honored each year of the program’s existence.

Graduated senior Becky Lohse (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) and juniors Sam Perez (Aurora, Ill./Oswego East) and Mirica Yancey (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) each earned NTCA All-Academic accolades for a third straight season. Juniors Hannah Forton (Macomb, Mich./Dakota) and Jess Soskich (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo) both received the award for a second time, while freshman Noelle Doody (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) picked up the accolade following her rookie year. Bowlers must maintain at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA for the academic year to earn the All-Academic award.

As a team, Valpo posted a 3.38 cumulative GPA to earn the NTCA team academic award for a fifth straight year. Valpo was one of 57 programs to be honored for the team’s work in the classroom by the NTCA, which requires a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or better.
