Valpo Women Complete Final Tune-Up for Mid-Con Championships

Valparaiso's women's cross country team finished 32nd at the Pre-NCAA Meet held in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Saturday afternoon in the Crusaders final competition prior to the Mid-Continent Conference Championships.

Brigham Young won the meet, followed by North Carolina in a race which featured many nationally ranked teams.

Rachel Nelson (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit H.S.) led the Brown and Gold with a 154th place finish overall in a time of 22:52 over the six-kilometer course. Elizabeth Whiting (Parma, Mich./Western H.S.) was just six seconds behind Nelson in 159th spot.

Danielly Nunnelly (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) turned in a time of 23:10 to finish third for Valpo, while Amanda Lee (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon H.S.) was fourth in 172nd spot in a time of 23:12. Heidi Nathan (Medford, N.Y./ Patchogue-Medford H.S.) rounded out the scorers for the Crusaders in 182nd place with a time of 23:24.

Valpo will compete at the Mid-Con Championships on November 1 in Tulsa, Okla., with the meet hosted by Oral Roberts.
