Valpo Track & Field Athletes Receive CSC Academic All-District Honors

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track & field programs had 10 student-athletes receive recognition on Wednesday as College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA) released its academic all-district selections for the 2022-23 season.

The Valparaiso University men’s cross country program finished out the 2022 season on a high note as four team members cracked the program’s all-time top 10 in the 10K at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, hosted by Indiana State at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind. on Friday. Ignacio Veloz Bonilla (San Juan, P.R. / American Military Academy) was the forefront of a solid day for the Valpo men by posting the third fastest 10K in program lore.

The Valparaiso University cross country program took part in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Friday morning at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind. Ellie Roeglin (Delafield, Wis. / Lake County Lutheran) paced the Valpo women, while the men were led by Evan Walda (Fort Wayne, Ind. / South Side).

Four Beacons Crack Program Record Book at Bradley

The Valparaiso University cross country programs garnered significant momentum in advance of the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference Championships by virtue of a strong showing at the Bradley Pink Classic, the final meet prior to the conference championship, which was hosted at Newman Golf Course in Peoria on Friday. The Beacons posted a slew of personal records including four entries into the program record book.

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s cross country teams continued the season on Friday by participating in the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame. The Beacons were led by Grace Aurand (Highland, Ind. / Highland) and Evan Walda (Fort Wayne, Ind. / South Side) in the women’s and men’s races, respectively.

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s cross country teams hit the road for the first time this season to take part in the Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State on Friday in East Lansing, Mich. The Valpo men were paced by Evan Walda (Fort Wayne, Ind. / South Side), while Grace Aurand (Highland, Ind. / Highland) led the way on the women’s side.


Cross Country Begins Season with Home Meet

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s cross country programs opened up the 2022 season by hosting the annual Winrow Open at Sunset Hill Farm County Park in Valparaiso on Friday. This marked the first meet under the direction of Interim Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Vincent Walker.
