Valparaiso’s women’s golf team finished the fall portion of the 2010-2011 season on Tuesday with a seventh place finish at the Dayton Fall Invitational held at the NCR Country Club North Course in Kettering, Ohio.

Valpo shot 320 on day two and finished the tournament at 636, five strokes behind sixth place Robert Morris (Pa.).  The Crusaders shot the fifth best second round of any team in the tournament.  Butler won the team title at 600 (305-295), 19 shots ahead of Detroit.

Brianna Davy (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) completed the best 36-hole tournament in program history with her second straight 77 over the 6,836-yard, par-70 course.  Her 154 total placed her in a tie for 10th place, her second top-10 finish of the season.

Kelly Voigt (Palatine, Ill./Fremd H.S.) carded a 79 on Tuesday, the second best Crusader score of the day, to finish at 159, earning a tie for 18th place overall.  For the freshman, it was also her best 36-hole tournament of her career.  Erika Pfaender (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.) finished the event one stroke behind Voigt at 160 after shooting 81 in round two.  She was the third player for Valpo to record a season’s best score in the final event of the fall.

Annie Nolan (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) posted an 83 in the final round to shoot 163 for the tournament while Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Mich./Irondale H.S.) turned in an 86 to finish at 166.  Klecker and Nolan both tied for low average honors during the fall campaign at 81.6.

Butler’s Michele Nash won the individual title at five-over par 145 (73-72), a four stroke victory.

Valparaiso will now take the winter off before returning to the links in the spring to begin its championship season.
