Valpo Women Third at Butler Spring Invitational
A.J. Selig shot 81 on Monday in the opening round of the Butler Spring Invitational.

A.J. Selig (Hortonville, Wis./Appleton West H.S.) and Kelly Voigt (Palatine, Ill./Fremd H.S.) are both tied for fifth place midway through play at the Butler Spring Invitational, leading the Crusaders to third place in the team standings on Monday at Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Ind.

Selig and Voigt both carded rounds of 81 on the 5,930-yard, par-71 layout.  The pair is six shots off of the lead set by Cathy Doyle of Evansville, who shot 75 in round one.

Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale H.S.) added a round of 82 and is tied for eighth through 18 holes of play.  Kathleen Cooper (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) added a 91 for the Brown and Gold while Alyssa Cameron (Warsaw, Ind./Warsaw H.S.) posted a 97 to round out the Valpo lineup.

The Crusaders fired a round of 335 on day one, one stroke behind second place Evansville and one shot ahead of Eastern Washington.  Butler leads the way after shooting 316 on Monday.

Valpo will return to the course for the final round of the 36-hole event on Tuesday morning with play beginning at 8 a.m. CDT.
