The Valparaiso women’s golf team opened their 2014 fall schedule with a pair of program top-ten performances through 18 holes at the Golfweek Program Challenge at Caledonia Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Junior Sibil Gill (Kokomo, Ind./Western) led the Crusaders with a career-low 73, good for fifth best all-time in Crusader history, in the opening round as she finished the day tied for eighth. The Crusaders finished the day in 10th place with a team score of 313, the 10th best team score all time through 18 holes at Valpo. Gill also shot a 73 last year at the Braun Intercollegiate.
Junior Annie Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) carded a career-low 76 to finish tied for 24th. Sophomore Angie Kim (Schaumburg, Ill./Fremd) shot an 80 to finish tied for 41st , while freshman Katie Willenbrink (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) and sophomore Sydney Shrum (Cloverdale, Ind./Cloverdale) both finished tied for 55th with 84s.
