Kim Leads Valpo With Top-Ten Round

The Valparaiso women’s golf team started their final fall tournament Monday at the Braun Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Evansville. Action took place at Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville, Ind.

Sophomore Angie Kim (Schaumburg, Ill./Fremd) led the way as she shot a 78 to finish in a tie for 10th place. She was one stroke off her season-low 18-hole score and two strokes off her career-low score for 18 holes.

Junior Angie Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) finished round one in a tie for 42nd place as she shot an 84. Sophomore Sydney Shrum (Cloverdale, Ind./Cloverdale) and freshman Katie Willenbrink (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) both shot 86’s to land in a tie for 52nd place.

Senior A.J. Selig (Hortonville, Wis./Appleton West) finished in 81st place with a 92 to round out the Crusaders scoring. Freshman Kiana Jongsma (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) was competing as an individual before withdrawing.

Valpo finished day one in 9th place with a team score of 334. They conclude action Tuesday at Oak Meadow with a 9:00 am CT shotgun start.
