The Valparaiso University women’s golf team has released its spring schedule, a slate that builds up to the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championships at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Ind.
The women’s golf team will become the first Valpo program to host an MVC championship event since the University joined the conference. Before that event takes place in mid-April, first-year head coach Jill McCoy will guide her squad in four spring tournaments.
The spring slate tees off on Feb. 4-5 with the Motor City Cup in Winter Park, Fla., an event hosted by Oakland University. After a lengthy break from tournament play, Valpo returns to the course on March 24-25 with an appearance in the Saluki Invite hosted by Southern Illinois in Carbondale. This marks the second straight year Valpo has competed in the Saluki Invitational.
Each of the next two tournaments will also be hosted by MVC competitors as Valpo heads to the Bradley Spring Invite (March 30-31) and the Indiana State Invite (April 7-8). That leads up to the aforementioned conference championships in Chesterton.
During the fall season, Valpo was led in scoring by Kayla Krueger (Spring Lake, Mich. / Spring Lake) at 82.70. The fall featured four events, including the MVC Fall Preview hosted at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton as a precursor to April’s MVC Championship.
