Valparaiso junior goalkeeper Kristen Manski (Saint Charles, Ill./North) has been named the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, after posting a pair of shutouts in net for the Crusaders last weekend.

Manski started the weekend by making six saves as Valpo defeated Western Michigan, 2-0.  The junior then earned her second clean sheet in three days on Sunday, stopping a pair of shots in the Crusaders’ 3-0 win over Bowling Green.

The pair of shutouts gives Manski four shutouts through the season’s first seven games and 16 for her career, just four clean sheets behind the Crusader career record of 20.  The junior’s four shutouts also lead the Horizon League, while she ranks second in goals against average (0.69).

Manski and the rest of the Crusaders have just one game this week, traveling to Fort Wayne to take on IPFW Sunday evening at 5 p.m. CDT.
