Galvez-Daley Earns Second League Award of Season

Valparaiso sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Galvez-Daley (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick [Creighton]) has been named the Horizon League co-Defensive Player of the Week after posting a pair of shutouts as the Crusaders clinched the regular season title last week.

Galvez-Daley picked up her second award of the season as she kept both Milwaukee and Detroit off the scoreboard in a pair of 1-0 Valpo victories.  The sophomore stepped up big in the title clincher against the Titans, making a key save in the 88th minute following a scramble in the box to preserve the clean sheet.

Galvez-Daley’s pair of shutouts last week gives her ten clean sheets on the season, matching Mele Cabral (2008) and Kristen Manski (2012) for the most shutouts in a season in program history.  The sophomore has surrendered just two goals in seven Horizon League matches this year and has not given up more than one goal since the season opener.

Galvez-Daley and the rest of the Crusaders close out the regular season Friday afternoon at Green Bay.
