Valpo Flies By Lewis 136-72

Valparaiso's women's swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 on the season as the Crusaders defeated Lewis 136-72 on Friday evening at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

Valpo won ten of the 12 events on the evening to easily defeat the Flyers.

Lauren Bambach (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman H.S.), Allison Clark (Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood H.S.), Leah Schneider (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.), and Britt Nelson (Cortland, N.Y./Homer H.S.) were 27 second victors in the 400 medley relay to open the meet.

Maggie Kroemer (Brown Deer, Wis./Milwaukee Lutheran H.S.) then posted a win in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:01.01, followed by Nelson's win in the 200 free with a time of 2:03.02.

Clark was a victor in the 200 individual medley by nearly four seconds with a time of 2:17.58, while Schneider posted an individual victory in the 100 butterfly (1:02.74). Bambach turned in a time of 1:03.86 in the 100 backstroke to take home top honors in that event as well.

Nelson recorded her second individual victory of the day in the 500 free with a time of 5:17.54, while Clark also was a double winner, closing out the individual events with a time of 1:11.48 in the 100 breaststroke.

Andi Ticknor (North Vernon, Ind./Jennings County H.S.) won the diving with a score of 165.25.

Valpo also had the fastest time in the 400 free relay as Amanda Gregory (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.), Rachel Korellis (Champaign, Ill./Centennial H.S.), Katie Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.), and Daniella Trombatore (Redding, Calif./Shasta H.S.) finished with a time of 3:49.00.

The Crusaders will return to the pool on Saturday afternoon to battle Wisconsin-Green Bay in a 2 p.m. meet at the ARC.
