Valpo Places Fifth at Ball State Invitational

The Crusaders scored 141 points, good for a fifth-place finish, as Valpo swam at the Ball State Invitational Friday and Saturday in Muncie, Ind.

Amanda Gregory (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) led the way for Valpo, touching the wall fifth in the 200 yard freestyle. Gregory anchored the Crusaders' 200 free relay squad, combining with Leah Schneider (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead H.S.), Rachel Korellis (Champaign, Ill./Centennial H.S.), and Katy Eelma (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North H.S.) to bring home a third-place finish.

The Brown and Gold also found success in the other relay events. Valpo's 800 free relay squad placed fourth, while the 200 and 400 medley relays and 400 free relay all finished fifth.

Ball State brought home the team crown, putting up 935 points.

Valparaiso will take a weekend off before returning to the pool, December 2-3 at the House of Champions Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind. The meet will start at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 2.
