Valparaiso took to the pool for a pair of meets on Saturday, but the Crusaders dropped both against UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

In the morning against UW-Green Bay, the Crusaders fell by the score of 131-87. The Phoenix won nine of the 12 events.

Jaclyn Krause (Rochester, Mich./Notre Dame Prep H.S.) was a double winner for the Brown and Gold. The freshman won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.95 seconds, more than a half of a second ahead of the competition.

She also came back with a .06 second victory in the 100 free as well with a time of 55.44 seconds.

Krause also was a member of the 200 freestyle relay that earned the victory on the day. She teamed with Amanda Gregory (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.), Rachel Majercik (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant H.S.), and Kati Smethurst (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge H.S.) touched the wall in 1:41.80.

In the afternoon, the Crusaders dropped another meet to a future Horizon League foe, falling to UW-Milwaukee 161-56.

The Panthers won every event except the finale, as again the 200 freestyle relay was victorious for the Brown and Gold. The same combination as in the morning posted a .22 second victory with a time of 1:40.78.

Valpo (2-5) will return to the pool next Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders head to Macomb, Ill. for a 2 p.m. meet against Western Illinois.
