Cleveland State and Saint Bonaventure both upended Valparaiso’s women’s swim team on Saturday afternoon in Cleveland, Ohio. The Vikings downed the Crusaders 173-56 while the Bonnies were 141-96 winners over the Brown and Gold.
Flavia Segatto (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charleow Flanigan H.S.) led the way for the Brown and Gold on Saturday, posting a third place finish in the 200 butterfly. The freshman finished with a time of 2:15.04. She was also Valpo’s top finisher in the 200 free, placing seventh with a time of 2:04.24.
Natalie Jarrett (Lebanon, Ind./Western Boone H.S.) added a fourth place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:16.16. She also posted a fifth place mark in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 2:16.72.
Lauren Knop (Geneva, Ill./Geneva H.S.) finished fifth for the Crusaders, doing so in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.66 seconds. She also added a seventh place effort in the 50 free, the team’s best, touching the wall in 26.40 seconds.
Ali Taubert (Bloomington, Ill./University H.S.) posted a fifth place finish in the 1000 freestyle with her time of 11:14.41. She also added Valpo’s best finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:33.06, finishing sixth overall.
Katrina Peters (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central H.S.) placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:39.40, just 0.17 seconds ahead of teammate Alex Caruthers (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard H.S.).
Valparaiso (1-6) will return to action next Friday and Saturday in Muncie, Ind. The Crusaders will compete in the Coers Invitational hosted by Ball State with day one action beginning at 5 p.m. CST.
