Women’s Swimming Downed at Green Bay

Valparaiso’s women’s swim team returned to the water on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 151-98 decision to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in Green Bay, Wis.

Natalie Jarrett (Lebanon, Ind./Western Boone H.S.) and Lauren Knop (Geneva, Ill./Geneva H.S.) posted a one-two finish for the Crusaders in the 100 backstroke.  Jarrett finished in a time of 1:02.99 while Knop was just 0.73 seconds behind.

Jarrett also won the 200 breaststroke by nearly two seconds.  The senior turned in a time of 2:29.08.

Flavia Segatto (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charleow Flanigan H.S.) added a runner-up finish for the Brown and Gold in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall in 2:11.23.  Segatto also finished second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:15.78.

Segatto added the lone third place mark by a Crusader as well with a time of 2:19.01 in the 200 medley relay.

Valparaiso (1-7) will return to the water on Jan. 20 when the Crusaders face UIC and Illinois State in Chicago, Ill.  The first event begins at 5 p.m.
