Seven Crusaders Earn Winter Academic All-League Honors

Seven Valparaiso student-athletes earned spots on the Horizon League Winter Academic All-League teams, as announced by the league office this afternoon.

Vikings Score Pair of Victories over Valpo in Pool

On Senior Day, Tate Wegehaupt won the 100-yard breaststroke with a 58.93 time but Cleveland State prevailed 109-89 on the men's side. The Crusader women dropped their meet 121-69, but won the 200 yard freestyle relay thanks to a 1:46.53 finish.


Swimming's Senior Day Moved to Friday

Valpo's swim meet versus Cleveland State has been moved to Friday, February 7th at 3:00 pm at the ARC. Cheer on the Crusaders as they honor seniors Tate Wegehaupt, Andrea Bretl, Katie Meunier, Katrina Peters, and Ali Taubert for their service to the men's and women's swim teams.


Flames Get Past Crusaders

Segatto, Trimpe clinched individual victories, women's 400 yard freestyle relay team finished first; Castro Diaz turned in 4:16.68 time in 400 yard IM, 1:58.68 result in 200 yard butterfly en route to solid second-place finishes versus UIC Saturday in Chicago. Wegehaupt was first in the 200 yard breaststroke.


Phoenix Prevail Over Crusaders

Green Bay's Parker Wolf and Natalie Neuwirth won three events each on the women's side to remain undefeated; Crusader men were unable to claim a victory versus an equally strong Green Bay squad.


Dority, Segatto Named Valparaiso Athletes of the Month for December

Western Illinois Wins over Valpo

Bretl, Segatto picked up two individual victories as the women's swim team competed at Western Illinois Saturday. Castro Diaz and Wegehaupt accomplish same on men's side in Macomb. The Leathernecks walked away with the team victory, though, 155-129 (men's) and 152-129 (women's).

Fighting Irish defeat Crusaders 219-60 in a dual meet Friday afternoon.


Lewis Defeats Crusaders in the Pool

Crusader women lost 176-81, men fell 155-107 Saturday afternoon at the ARC. Meet was Valpo's second in as many days.


Castro Diaz, Cripe Claim Two Events Each at IUPUI Invitational

Castro Diaz was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM; Cripe won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. IUPUI ultimately prevailed over the Crusaders 150-106 on the men's side and 165-97 on the women's circuit.


Women Take 6th, Men 7th at Indiana Intercollegiate Invitational

Women's relay team of Lightner, Cannon, Cripe, and Trimpe collect 26 points in 200-yard medley; men's quartet of King, Jenny, Castro Diaz, and Wegehaupt notch 30 points in same race at West Lafayette.


Wegehaupt, Segatto Score First Place Finishes vs. Milwaukee

Senior Tate Wegehaupt touched the wall .62 seconds ahead of UWM's Jacob Melville in the 200-yard breaststroke; Flavia Segatto beat Mary Kuyvenhoven in the 200-yard butterfly to earn nine points for the Crusaders. Panthers claimed 125-76 and 126-74 victories on the men's and women's side, respectively.


Crusaders Place 5th, 6th at Notre Dame

Facing BCS giants like Auburn, Indiana, and Notre Dame, Brown and Gold walk away with a fifth-place finish on the men's side and a sixth-place result on the women's side at the Dennis Stark Meet Friday.
