Swimming Splits at Rose-Hulman
The Crusader women claimed the second win in a row at Rose-Hulman

The Valparaiso men’s and women’s swimming teams traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. on Friday to battle Rose-Hulman in a dual meet. The women won their second meet in a row, 117-86, while the men lost 158-78.

The women swept the 200 yard medley (1:56.11) and 400 yard freestyle (3:48.16) relays, while the men won the 200 yard medley (1:37.88) and finished second in the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:15.28).

Rachel Law (Wayne, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) claimed a pair of victories in the women’s 1000 (11:24.32) and 500 (5:35.73) yard freestyle. She also swam the anchor leg of the second-place 400 yard freestyle relay.

Erin McBride (St. Louis, Mo./Webster Groves) won the women’s 50 yard freestyle with a 25.58, just outside the top-ten in Valpo history. She also finished second in the 100 yard freestyle with a 58.00 and swam the third leg on the 400 yard freestyle.

Kyle Braun (McHenry, Ill./West) claimed first in the men’s 50 yard freestyle (21.87) and swam the opening leg on the 200 yard medley relay. He also swam the second leg on the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Flavia Segatto (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charles W. Flanagan) had a stellar day, finishing first in the women’s 100 yard butterfly (1:02.03), and swam the opening legs on the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay.

Gonzalo Castro Diaz (Mexico City, Mexico) finished second in the men’s 100 yard butterfly with a 52.66. He also swam the third leg of the 200 yard medley relay and the opening leg of the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Amanda Jenny (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) won the women’s 100 yard freestyle with a 56.83. She also swam the anchor leg of the 200 yard medley relay and the second leg on the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Fred Jenny (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) claimed a pair of victories in the men’s 100 yard freestyle in 48.86 and men’s 100 yard breaststroke in 58.29.

The teams return to the pool on Saturday when they make the trek to Eastern Illinois. Start time is set for 11:00 am CT.
