Segatto Named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week
Flavia Segatto won her first Horizon League Swimmer of the Week award on Tuesday.

Senior Flavia Segatto (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charles W. Flanagan) was named the Horizon League women’s swimmer of the week on Tuesday following her quartet of first-place finishes over the weekend.

On Friday evening at Rose-Hulman, Segatto finished first in the women’s 100 yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:02.03. She also swam the opening legs on the 200 yard medley relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay, both which claimed first place in a win for the Crusaders.

On Saturday afternoon at Eastern Illinois, she amassed three first-place finishes in the women’s 1000 yard freestyle (11:03.11), the 200 yard butterfly (2:16.24) and the 200 yard IM (2:17.38).

Seggato is just the third Crusader to win the weekly award since Valpo joined the Horizon League. She joins current junior Gonzalo Castro Diaz (Mexico City, Mexico), who won it in 2012, and David Sivak (2011).

Valpo returns to the pool for the three-day Calvin College Invitational on Dec. 4. Start time is set for 9:00 am CT.
