The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams were named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA), as announced by the organization today.


Maddie Wilson Receives State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award

Women’s swimming junior Maddie Wilson (Sugar Grove, Ill./Rosary) represented Valpo Athletics as the winter season recipient of the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award. Wilson was among 10 student-athletes honored by the conference for their citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service.


Martins, Robinson Named to MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

Valpo women’s swimmers Chiara Robinson (Castle Pines, Colo./Rock Canyon) and Erica Martins (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) were named to the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Swimming Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced by the conference office Thursday.

The Valpo men’s and women’s swim teams are ready to compete in their respective conference championship meets starting on Wednesday following a successful season under former swimmer and first-year head coach Maggie Kroemer. Valpo Swimming Competes in Butler Invitational Sunday

The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams competed in their final away meet of the season at the Butler Invitational on Sunday in Fishers, Ind. Senior Paige Wright (Surprise, Ariz./Paradise Honors) had the top individual finish for the Brown and Gold, earning a fourth-place finish in the 200 free, and was one of three swimmers to pick up two top-10 finishes, joined by freshman Sophie Morelock (Milan, Mich./Milan) and sophomore Dominic May (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central).


Men’s, Women’s Swimming Sweep Bethel Friday

The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams both emerged with victories Friday, as they traveled to Mishawaka to take on the Bethel Pilots. The women won every event on their side, while the men won all but two events on their side.


Swimming Splits Tri-Meet Saturday at ARC While Celebrating Seniors

Saturday afternoon, the Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams took on Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois at the ARC Pool in a tri-meet. Both sides earned wins over Western Illinois, but fell to Eastern Illinois. Saturday’s event was Valpo’s Senior Meet, as prior to the meet, the Brown and Gold honored the eight members of their senior class.


Women’s Squad Earns Win as Swimming Competes at Rose-Hulman Friday

The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. to take on Rose-Hulman Friday afternoon. Mikayla DePover (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) and Paige Wright (Surprise, Ariz./Paradise Honors) led the women, each winning three individual events to lead the Brown and Gold to a win over the Fightin’ Engineers.


Saturday Swim Meet Canceled

Valpo Swimming head coach Maggie Kroemer announced today that Saturday’s (Jan. 11) scheduled swim meet against Western Illinois has been canceled. WIU will now travel to Valpo to join the previously scheduled Jan. 18 meet versus Eastern Illinois and make that a tri-meet. That day’s meet will be Valpo’s Senior Meet, celebrating the program’s senior class.

The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams traveled to West Lafayette, Ind. Saturday to compete at the 2019 Indiana Intercollegiates. Sophomore Billy Bennett (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) had the top individual finish of the day with a third-place effort, while senior Paige Wright (Surprise Ariz./Paradise Honors) had a sixth-place finish individually and was also part of a sixth-place relay.
