Valparaiso opened up the Horizon League portion of its schedule on Friday evening, falling 7-0 at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet Club in Flossmoor, Ill.
The Panthers opened the match winning all three doubles spots. Megan Gow and Brittany Skemp defeated Kristin Zakiewicz (Bristol, Ind./Northridge H.S.) and Katie Bilyeu (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo H.S.) 8-0 at the top of the doubles lineup. Kristin Kurer and Maddy Soule were 8-1 victors against Jackie O’Reilly (Green Bay, Wis./DePere H.S.) and Stephanie York (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown H.S.) at number two. Sammi Schoen and Beth Ganser topped Brittany O’Reilly (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest H.S.) and Aubree Zdanovec (Appleton, Wis./East H.S.) by the same score at the third spot.
Milwaukee (8-5, 2-1 Horizon) also won all six singles matches in straight sets. York fell 6-2, 6-1 to Skemp at number four singles. Schoen was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Jackie O’Reilly at two while Gow beat Zakiewicz by the same score at the third spot. Soule defeated Brittany O’Reilly 6-0, 6-0 at the top of the order while Kurer downed Bilyeu at five and Ganser beat Zdanovec at six, each by the same score.
Valparaiso (0-8, 0-1) will return to Homewood-Flossmoor on Sunday morning to face Green Bay. First serve is set for 8:30 a.m.
