The doubles tandem comprised of freshmen Halle Roach (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) and Randi Wind (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) won a pair of doubles matches at the Greater Cincinnati Collegiate Invite in Dayton to help lead the Crusaders to six victories on Saturday.

Play concluded late Saturday afternoon at the eight-team event.

Roach and Wind got things rolling with a quick 6-1 win over Stephanie Miller/Brittni Jentz of Saint Francis University. The Valpo duo advanced to the next round where they dispatched Dayton's Kristina Benjamin/Claire Herdina, 6-2.

Kathleen Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) and Paige Heuer (Munster, Ind./Munster) also added two doubles victories on Saturday. They persevered in a 7-6 nail-biter over Xavier's Megan Morris and Abigail Roebker in the opening round before handing Saint Francis' Dani Gryckiewicz/Raksha Bode a 6-2 defeat. Heuer and Hebble gave Dayton's Mattea Kilstofte and Jackie Kawamoto all they could handle before falling 6-3 in the final.

Valpo came out on top in two matches in singles play.

Cary Milanes (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) downed Lewis' Jill Wetmore, 1-6, 6-2, 10-2.

Wind scored her first collegiate win, a 7-5, 6-2 triumph, over Megan Conlin of Lewis.

Freshman Meg Modesto (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) dropped her lone singles match of the day, 6-2, 6-3, to Dora Andrejszki of Lewis. Hebble also fell 6-0, 6-2 to Jade Kawamoto of Dayton.

Bode got the best of Heuer in a 6-1, 6-3 tilt. Dayton's Kristina Benjamin defeated Erin Staal (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven), 6-2, 6-2.

Junior Morgan Paras (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) gave Roebker a run for her money in the second set, but was on the wrong end of a 6-0, 6-4 contest.

Valpo will return to the courts on Tuesday, Sept. 29th against Wayne State in Detroit.
