Sun Prairie, Wisconsin native Daosavanh "Dao" Sysouvanh has inked a Letter of Agreement (LoA) with Valparaiso University and is expected to join the women's tennis program as a freshman in the 2016-2017 season.
"Both Dao and Jordan (Kopfer) will make an immediate impact on our team next year. I'm excited to welcome both to our program and am anticipating their contributions both on and off the court," head coach Tammy Cecchini said.
Sysouvanh is a three-star recruit who boasts the No. 4 ranking in the state of Wisconsin, according to tennisrecruiting.net. Furthermore, she is tabbed as the 46th-best player in the Great Lakes region and holds a No. 331 national ranking. She went 36-2 last fall and was Division I runner-up at No. 1 singles in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) state individual tournament. For that, she was named Wisconsin State Journal/WisconsinPrepZone.com 2015 All-Area Girls Tennis Player of the Year.
Sysouvanh joins Jordan Kopfer (Eagan, Minn./Eastview) as the newest members of the Valpo women's tennis team. Kopfer was recently elevated from two-star to three-star status following a strong senior campaign.
