Jordan Kopfer (Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) of the Valparaiso University women’s tennis team was tabbed to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team for the second straight year on Thursday.
Kopfer, who owns a sparkling 3.97 grade point average in health sciences, is a junior academically but is competing in her final season of tennis as she will enter Valpo’s physician assistant program next year. She was selected for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Spotlight on Wednesday before tacking on her MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team recognition on Thursday.
Kopfer is involved in campus organizations including SAAC, 5PAC club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She volunteers for “Feed My Starving Children” and is a children’s ministry volunteer at GracePoint Church.
On the courts, Kopfer enters this week’s MVC Tournament tied for the team lead in singles victories with 12 after starting the fall season with a streak of seven consecutive wins. She advanced to the second round of the MVC Individual Championship during the fall with her first-round win over Missouri State in straight sets. Another season highlight came in February, when Kopfer enjoyed a perfect 4-0 weekend combined between singles and doubles in her home state of Minnesota.
Valpo will begin the MVC Tournament on Friday afternoon with a 1 p.m. match against regular-season champion Illinois State in Cedar Falls, Iowa. A link to live scoring is available.
