Valpo Doubles Teams Close MVC Individual Championship with Wins
Olivia Czerwonka joined Demi Jhaveri to win the fifth-place match in the No. 2 doubles flight on Sunday.

The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team had a pair of doubles combinations register victories on the final day of the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championship, hosted by UNI in Waterloo, Iowa. Valpo earned fifth-place finishes in each of the top two doubles flights.

How It Happened

  • In Flight 1 Doubles, junior Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) teamed up with sophomore Isabella Schoolcraft (Bargersville, Ind. / Center Grove) to notch a thrilling win over Drake’s Petushkova/Webb. The Valpo tandem edged its way to a win in a back-and-forth tiebreak, taking the match 8-7 (11-9).
  • Freshmen Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) and Demi Jhaveri (Westlake, Ohio / Westlake) came out on top in the Flight 2 Doubles fifth-place match. They bested the UNI duo of Doherty/Caro 8-5.
  • Senior Dao Sysouvanh (Sun Prairie, Wis. / Sun Prairie) finished fourth in Flight 6 singles after dropping her third-place match to Mia Wong of Stony Brook on Sunday. She won the first set but eventually lost the match 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.
