Women’s Tennis Falls to Air Force
Dao Sysouvanh won a set for Valpo on Saturday at Air Force.

The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team started its spring trip with a 7-0 setback at Air Force Academy in Colorado on Saturday. The best match of the day came at No. 6 singles, where Dao Sysouvanh (Sun Prairie, Wis. / Sun Prairie) recorded a second set win to force a third-set tiebreak.

How It Happened

  • Sysouvanh bounced back after dropping her opening set 4-6 to take the second set 6-4 and force the decisive third. Since the team match was already decided by that point, a third-set tiebreak was utilized and Sysouvanh incurred a narrow 10-8 setback.
  • An injury caused Demi Jhaveri (Westlake, Ohio / Westlake) to retire after one set at No. 5.
  • The Falcons won the remaining singles matches in straight sets. They also took all three doubles matches, the closest of which was 6-4 at No. 2.

Up Next

Valpo will face a quick turnaround for a Sunday morning match with Weber State at Air Force. The match will begin at 9 a.m. MT / 10 a.m. CT in Colorado.
