Olivia Czerwonka Named to MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team, Claire Czerwonka Receives Honorable Mention
After playing a key role in the Valparaiso University women’s tennis team finishing with its highest single-season win total in 14 years, sisters Olivia and Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) were recognized for their performance on the court and in the classroom as the Missouri Valley Conference announced its Scholar-Athlete teams on Tuesday.

Women’s Tennis Season Concludes Best Season in 14 Years
The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team saw its season reach its conclusion on Friday as host Missouri State prevailed 4-1 in a clinch-clinch format in the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Springfield, Mo. Senior Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) garnered a victory at No. 1 singles in the season’s final match. She plans to return next season for her additional year of eligibility granted by the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver with hopes of continuing to rewrite the program record book.

Olivia Czerwonka Named to MVC All-Select Team
Valparaiso University women’s tennis sophomore Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Select Team on Thursday as the league announced its postseason honors in advance of this weekend’s MVC Tournament.

Valpo Wins Doubles Point, Olivia Czerwonka Corrals Singles Victory on Sunday
The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team got off to a strong start on Sunday afternoon at the Valpo Tennis Complex by collecting the doubles point, but visiting Bradley rebounded for a 5-2 victory in the regular season finale. Sophomore Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) continued her strong play, accounting for Valpo’s singles victory.

Olivia Czerwonka Earns Singles Win on Saturday
Sophomore Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) entered double figures with her team-leading 10th singles victory on Saturday, providing the highlight of the Valparaiso University women’s tennis team’s 6-1 setback to Illinois State at the Valpo Tennis Complex. This marked Valpo’s first home outdoor match of the season.

Czerwonka Sisters Extend Doubles Winning Streak
Olivia and Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) lengthened their doubles winning streak and the Valparaiso University women’s tennis team picked up a pair of singles triumphs, but visiting Missouri State prevailed 5-2 on Saturday at The Courts of Northwest Indiana. Freshman Allison McConnell (Westland, Mich. / Churchill) and Olivia accounted for Valpo’s two singles successes.

Claire Czerwonka Posts 50th Career Doubles Win
The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team took the doubles point on Saturday, but host Drake won on all six singles courts for a 6-1 triumph at Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) reached a significant milestone, becoming the fifth player in program history with 50 career doubles victories.

Women’s Tennis Prevails in MVC Opener
The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team made head coach Bob Modesto’s first conference match a memorable one on Friday, continuing the squad’s strong season by besting UNI 5-2 at Black Hawk Tennis Club in Waterloo, Iowa. Valpo registered its first league victory since joining the Missouri Valley Conference, in the process securing the program’s highest overall win total since 2006-2007.

Women’s Tennis Records Fourth Straight Victory
The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team extended the program’s longest winning streak in 14 years to four on Saturday afternoon at The Courts of Northwest Indiana in Valparaiso, downing visiting Oakland 6-1. The team has strung together four victories in a row for the first time since April 2007.

The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team has its longest winning streak in 14 years after topping Chicago State 7-0 on Sunday at The Courts of Northwest Indiana. The win marked the team’s third straight triumph and secured a weekend sweep over a pair of Illinois-based foes.

Valpo Women’s Tennis Captures Noteworthy Win at NIU
The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team emerged victorious on Saturday afternoon, collecting a 4-3 victory in a tight match with host Northern Illinois at Chick Evans Fieldhouse in DeKalb, Ill. The Brown & Gold won the doubles point before the two teams split the six singles matches, allowing Valpo to win back-to-back spring dual matches for the first time in three years. This marked the program’s first victory over a Mid-American Conference opponent in 16 seasons.

This marked the middle match of a busy three-match home weekend for Valpo.

Sophomores Amanda Tabanera (Valencia, Calif. / Valencia) and Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) each earned straight-set wins in singles play, but the Valparaiso University women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to visiting Milwaukee on Friday evening at The Courts of Northwest Indiana. Olivia and her older sister Claire teamed up for a victory at No. 1 doubles.

Sophomore Amanda Tabanera (Valencia, Calif. / Valencia) and junior Isabella Schoolcraft (Bargersville, Ind. / Center Grove) teamed up for a victory at No. 2 doubles, but visiting SIUE took the remaining doubles matches and swept singles en route to a 7-0 victory over the Valparaiso University tennis team at The Courts of Northwest Indiana on Sunday. Tabanera and Schoolcraft have won two of their last three matches.

Women’s Tennis Enters Win Column with Hard-Fought Victory over Ferris State
The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team dug deep after dropping the doubles point on Sunday afternoon at The Courts of Northwest Indiana, rallying to top Ferris State 5-2 and garner the squad’s first victory on the young season. Valpo prevailed on five of the six singles courts including a pair of three-set battles en route to the victory. Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) became the first Valpo player since 2009 to crack the program’s all-time Top 10 in career singles victories.

Bertino started her collegiate career in style as the freshman accounted for the team’s triumph in a 6-1 setback to the host Cardinals on Sunday afternoon in Muncie, Ind.
