Accomplished Tennis Season Comes to Close on Saturday vs. Top-Seeded Drake
A commendable season for the Valparaiso University tennis program that featured the team’s highest overall and league win totals since 2007 and the team’s first conference tournament victory since 2006 came to an end on Saturday with a 4-0 semifinal loss to host and Missouri Valley Conference regular-season champion Drake in Des Moines, Iowa.

Olivia Czerwonka Completes Perfect Singles Week
The Valparaiso University tennis team received a victory from its No. 1 singles player and No. 1 doubles tandem on Saturday, but host Bradley prevailed 5-2 indoors at Pekin Parkside Athletics in Peoria, Ill. Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) capped a perfect weekend with her singles win after teaming with her sister Claire to win at the top doubles spot. In addition to the Czerwonka victories, Mia Bertino (Lockport, Ill. / Joliet Catholic) earned a singles success for the Beacons.

Olivia Czerwonka Knocks off Zlatanovic at No. 1 Singles
Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) earned a significant victory on Friday afternoon outdoors at Gregory Street Tennis Courts in Normal, Ill., upstaging the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Year and two-time MVC Flight 1 Singles Champion at the top singles spot. Her victory came in Valpo’s 6-1 setback to host Illinois State.

Tennis Downs Missouri State, Owns Winning Record
The Valparaiso University tennis team climbed above the .500 mark both overall and in Missouri Valley Conference play by going on the road and dispatching host Missouri State 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mo. Tennis Celebrates Seniors with Whitewash of UNI
The esteemed Valparaiso University tennis careers of Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) and Isabella Schoolcraft (Bargersville, Ind. / Center Grove) were celebrated on Sunday morning prior to the home finale against UNI at The Courts of Northwest Indiana. And when the match came to a close, there was reason for further celebration as the Beacons dispatched visiting UNI 7-0 by winning all six singles matches plus the doubles point.

The Valparaiso University tennis team pushed defending Missouri Valley Conference champion Drake to its limits on Saturday afternoon at The Courts of Northwest Indiana, but the visiting Bulldogs escaped with a 4-3 victory in the Valley opener for the Beacons. Tennis Earns First Win Over Milwaukee Since 2002
The Valparaiso University tennis team achieved a noteworthy victory on Saturday, beating Milwaukee for the first time in the last 15 matchups between the two teams. Valpo went on the road and earned a 4-3 victory over the Panthers by capturing four of the six singles matches.

Beacons Close Out Spring Trip at Nationally-Ranked FIU
The Valparaiso University tennis team rounded out a week of facing nationally-ranked competition with a 4-0 loss at Florida International on Friday at the FIU Tennis Center in Miami. The match used a clinch-clinch format, so the remaining matches were halted when the team victory was wrapped up. The Panthers, ranked 37th nationally in the latest Division-I ITA coaches’ poll, represented Valpo’s latest challenging foe after the Beacons competed against a pair of Division-II teams that are ranked in the top-10 nationally this week. FIU (10-2) earned its eighth straight victory.

For the second time in as many days, the Valparaiso University women’s tennis team faced off with one of the top teams in the Division-II nation, as the program’s spring trip continued with a 5-2 setback at D-II No. 10 Lynn on Thursday morning. Olivia and Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) returned to the win column at No. 1 doubles, while Olivia and Mia Bertino (Lockport, Ill. / Joliet Catholic) both prevailed in singles competition.

A tight battle at No. 2 singles featuring Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) served as the morning’s most compelling match, but host Barry prevailed on all three doubles courts and all six singles courts to record a 7-0 win over the Valparaiso University tennis team on Wednesday morning in Miami Shores, Fla. Tennis Falls at Western Michigan
The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team fell 7-0 at Western Michigan on Friday afternoon in Kalamazoo. The match was much closer than the final score would indicate, as four of the six singles matches were decided in three sets. In fact, Valpo captured the opening set in all four of those matches.
