Crusaders Turn in Solid Performances at Stan Lyons Open

The Valparaiso Crusaders recorded several top performances on Saturday afternoon and evening at the Stan Lyons open held in Indianapolis.

Amanda Lee (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon H.S.) turned in the day's top finish with a third place effort in the 3,000m run. The junior crossed the finish line in 10:45.93.

Amy Mikel (Lemont, Ill./Fenwick H.S.) also represented the distance group in fine fashion with her fifth place performance in the mile with a time of 5:15.00.

In the sprints, Maggie Zellner (Downers Grove, Ill./Benet Academy) tied for sixth in the 400m dash, breaking the tape in 1:00.52.

On the infield, Holly Hagen (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) recorded a tenth place effort in the shot put with a toss of 36'10 ¼", while Martha Josephson (Detroit Lakes, Minn./Detroit Lakes H.S.) finished fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5'2" for Valpo's highest field event finishes.

The Crusaders will return to action on January 31-February 1 at the AllTel Classic in Findlay, Ohio.
