Body Picks Up Three Top-Tens at HL Championships

Amanda Body (Harlan, Ky./Harlan) picked up two podium finishes on Sunday, leading the Valparaiso women’s track and field squad as it concluded competition at the 2009 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Lisle, Ill.  The Crusaders finished the meet in seventh place.

Valpo tallied 15 points over the three-day meet to pick up the seventh-place showing.  Youngstown State took home the team title with 208 points.

Body matched her qualifying position in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash on Sunday.  The senior posted a third-place finish with a time of 12.44 seconds in the 100m, and followed by crossing the line in 24.70 seconds in the 200m, good for second place.  Body also picked up a third top-ten finish on Sunday in the triple jump, leaping 34’9 ¾” for a ninth-place finish.

Elsewhere on the track, Alyssa Bradford (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) placed ninth in the finals of the 800m run, crossing the line in 2:19.21.  Sara Christensen (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) ran a season-best 5:03.26 in the 1,500m run to pace Valpo, finishing 14th, while Caitlin Sauerhage (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun [Indiana]) ran to a 15th-place finish in the 5,000m run with a time of 20:10.79.  On the infield, Natalie McCorriston (Lansdowne, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) paced the Crusaders in the shot put with a toss of 33’11 ½”, finishing 11th.
