Six Crusaders Claim Titles at Edmonds Invitational
Ann Chapman had a pair of third place finishes today at the Edmonds Invitational

The Valparaiso women’s track and field team had six athletes capture titles on Saturday at the Gene and Rose Edmonds Invitational at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Ind.

Freshman Hannah Reynard (Jackson, Mich./Napoleon) set the fourth fastest time in school history in the 400 meter hurdles as she crossed the finish line first in 1:05.11. She would also take second in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 16.94.

Seniors Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) and Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) both had dominating performances in the high jump and pole vault, respectively. Taylor out-jumped the field by over half a foot to take the title (1.68m/5-6) while Peters vaulted almost 18 inches higher than field for a first place finish (3.48m/11-5).

Heather Mende (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and Brooke Hinstorff (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) finished one-two in the javelin throw with a tosses of 36.11m/118-5 and 35.75m/117-3, respectively. Mende also took third in the 100 meter dash (13.83)

In the 400m, Allison Baylor (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) sprinted to the title in 1:03.26 while also taking tenth in the 200m (30.03).

Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) took first in the 800m by almost three seconds as she crossed the line in 2:25.45.

Ann Chapman (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) had a pair of third place finishes in the long jump (5.07m/16-7.75) and triple jump (10.09m/33-1.25).

Sarah Drozkowski (Roseville, Ill./Lake Park) took second in the hammer throw (47.57m/156-1), fifth in the shot put (12.01m/39-5) and 11th in the discus throw (31.67m/103-11).

Laura Lacquement (Martensdale, Iowa/Martensdale Saint Mary's) had two top-five finishes on the day as she took fourth (14.27) in the 100m and fifth in the 200m (28.69).

Tori Tamburinno (West Dundee, Ill./Jacobs) took eighth in the 1500m (5:16.56) and seventh in 800m (2:40.45).

Valpo returns to St. Joseph’s next weekend for the Puma Invite while also sending athletes to the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State.
