Five Crusaders Claim Titles, Reynard Sets Two-Top Five Times at DePauw
Sarah Drozdowski took first in the shot put and hammer throw on Saturday.

The Valparaiso women’s track and field team had five individual title winners as they took fourth place with 80 points at the DePauw Outdoor Invitational.

Sarah Drozdowksi (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) took titles in the shot put and hammer throw. In the shot put, she unleashed a 13.27m/43-6.5 throw on her third attempt as she bested the field by almost two feet and bettered her second best mark in school history by over six inches. In the hammer, she out threw the field by 14 feet with her heave of 51.45m/168-9 on her fourth attempt. In the discus, she took third with mark of 37.47m/122-11.

Hannah Reynard (Jackson, Mich./Napoleon) had a historic day in the hurdles. She won the 400m hurdles in 1:04.77, a full second ahead of the field and the fourth fastest time in school history. And in the 100m hurdles, she took sixth in 16.00 to set the fifth fastest time in school history. 

Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) continued to dominate the high jump, winning her second outdoor title in three meets, clearing 1.63m/5-4.25, two inches higher than the field.

Kelli Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) captured the title in the 400 meter dash as she crossed the line in 59.74, the only competitor to finish in under a minute. She would also finish tenth in the 200m (28.05) against a four and half mph headwind.

Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) finished third in the pole vault with her height of 3.40m/11-1.75.

In the javelin, Brooke Hinstorff (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) and Heather Mende (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) finished three-four with marks of 36.38m/119-4 and 33.90m/111-3, respectively.

Ann Chapman (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) took tenth in the long jump with her leap of 4.63m/15-2.25 as she battled a 1.3 mph headwind.

Tori Tamburrino (West Dundee, Ill./Jacobs) finished seventh in the 800m with a season best 2:26.60.

The Crusaders return to the track next week with a pair of meets. The team will send select athletes to the three-day Tennessee Relays on Thursday before sending the rest of the team to the Golden Grizzly Duals at Oakland next Saturday.
