The Valparaiso men's soccer program's annual St. Baldrick's fundraiser reached new heights this year, raising nearly $45,000 to fund research for cures for childhood cancers. 80 heads were shaved in a 30-minute span, with over 100 heads shaved in total. Check out the video for a taste of the event.

The Valparaiso women’s tennis team played its last nonleague match of the season on Monday afternoon, falling to Chicago State 7-0 at the HF Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood, Ill. The No.3 doubles pairing of Megan Barthels and Paige Heuer won the lone contest of the match for the Crusaders.

Valparaiso sophomore outfielder Kaitlyn Ranieri (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week after capping another stellar week at the plate with a walk-off double on Sunday to give the Crusaders the series win over Cleveland State.

Freshman Charlie Emhardt recorded singles wins at No. 4 and 5 this week in addition to winning his 15th and 16th consecutive doubles matches alongside teammate Jeffrey Schorsch. Emhardt is 21-4 in singles play and 23-5 in doubles action this season. The honor is Emhardt's second of the year.

Dalton Lundeen collected his third Horizon League Pitcher of the Week Award of the season Monday. Lundeen struck out a career-high nine batters and didn't allow an earned run over eight innings Saturday versus Youngstown State. OF Mark Johnson batted .643 for the week, including two home runs, a triple, a double, and four RBIs in Saturday's doubleheader with the Penguins.

In a game full of many twists and turns, it was Valparaiso’s Kaitlyn Ranieri (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) who delivered the final blow, driving a double to the left-center gap to score Taylor Lawson (Tucson, Ariz./Sahuaro) as the Crusaders walked off with the 7-6 win in eight innings over Cleveland State. Valpo ends the weekend at 7-3 in Horizon League play and atop the league standings.

Senior Erika Pfaender (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) finished in third place individually to lead the Valparaiso women's golf team to a second-place finish at the Crusader/Jaguar Challenge on Sunday, contested at The Course at Aberdeen. Valpo also fielded a 'B' squad, which placed fifth. The tournament served as the Crusaders' final tuneup for the 2014 Horizon League Championship.
