Crusaders Compete at NCAA Great Lakes Regionals

The Valparaiso University men's cross country team completed their 2005 season in Bloomington, Indiana Saturday, finishing 30th at the NCAA Great Lakes Region Cross Country Championships.

Freshman Jim Turchyn (Batesville, Ind./Batesville) was the first Crusader to finish the 10K course, coming home in a time of 35:33.8. Turchyn finished 150th in the field of 195 runners. Junior Adriano Schultz (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) came across next for Valpo, finishing in 36:14.8.

Another freshman, Jordan Stanfill (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) was the third Valpo runner, followed by sophomore Michael Brouch (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) and senior David Wheeler (Saint Charles, Ill./East). Wheeler finished his final collegiate race in 37:28.8.

Ohio State's Brian Olinger finished first in a time of 30:51.5, and Wisconsin took home the team title with 49 points, placing four runners in the top-10.

The race concludes the Crusaders' 2005 season. They will return to action in the fall of 2006.
