Sunday, September 25, 2005
Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) made eight saves for her second shutout of the season, but the Valpo offense could not score and played Creighton to a scoreless tie Sunday at the Diadora Classic in Omaha, Nebraska.

Murray's shutout was also the eighth of her career, setting a new school career blankings mark.

The Jays (5-2-3) put eight shots on goal, but Murray was there to turn each one away. On the other end, the Crusaders (5-4-1) fired six shots on goal, including one in each overtime, but Kristen Casey made a save each time for Creighton.

The Jays, hosts of the Diadora Classic, had 28 shots in the match, doubling Valpo's total of 14, and out-shot the Crusaders 7-2 in the overtimes. Senior Emily King (Colona, Ill./United Township) and freshman Kendall Brown (Lake Zurich, Ill./Carmel) each had four shots to lead Valpo.

The Crusaders are back in action Saturday at Oral Roberts for their first road conference match, set to begin at 7 p.m. Valpo returns home October 7 for a 3:30 p.m. match against Centenary.
