Valpo Athletics Seeks Student Workers

The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics is seeking students who are interested in gaining experience as interns and/or student workers during the 2021-2022 academic and athletic year.

Valpo Athletics is seeking students who are interested in gaining experiencing in one or multiple of the following areas.

Sports Information / Media Relations

Valparaiso University Integrated Marketing and Communications is seeking interns or student worker to handle in-game social media responsibilities and assist with in-game statistics during the 2021-2022 academic and athletic year. Those interested in a career in athletic communications, social media, sports management or other related fields are encouraged to apply. This opportunity is open to both graduate and undergraduate students. Availability to work games on nights and weekends is required but scheduling is flexible. This hands-on opportunity offers the chance to coordinate all aspects of the in-game social media efforts from Valpo Athletics and team-specific platforms. In addition, students interested in this position can gain experience helping on the stats crew, serving as a music operator or DJ for select events and other areas connected to media relations. This position is available for both internship credit and for an hourly pay rate. Ticket Office

This position consists of working office hours at the Valpo Ticket office during the day. Normal shifts are 2-3 hours in length and will be worked around your class schedule. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, opening/closing ticket office, answering phones, selling tickets, processing ticket orders, preparing for upcoming athletics events. Ticket Office Game Day

This position consists of working athletic events including football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball. Normal shifts are 2 ½ hours in length for each event. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, selling tickets for game day walk up, counting and balancing revenue, scanning tickets for fan entry and working player pass-list. It is preferred that ticket office staff work both office hours and athletic events. The ticket office has a fun atmosphere and is a great on-campus job. Marketing

Valpo Athletics is seeking marketing student workers to assist with gameday promotions, handle video board operation and serve as DJs/music operators for home athletic events. Availability to work games on nights and weekends is required for this position. Event & Facility Operation

This position consists of helping run all home athletic events during the school year. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, visiting team/officials host, security, scoreboard operator, ball person, setup/teardown crew. Most events happen on weeknights or weekends with a shift usually being a minimum of 6 hours. Must be able to work a minimum of 9 (of 15) men’s basketball games and 4 (of 5) football games. Equipment Room

This position consists of taking care of laundry needs for athletic teams/staff, handling package deliveries, and other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities mainly consist of cleaning, drying and hanging laundry back up in lockers of the athletes. Most of the shifts are 3-4 hours long and range between 4-11 p.m. on weeknights and noon-11 p.m. on weekends, with additional shift as needed. Must be able to work a minimum of 2-3 shifts per a week. IMC – Athletics Gameday Camera Operator

This position is responsible for operating a professional video camera primarily for Valparaiso University men’s and women’s basketball home games. Other athletics games would be considered as well. The position will also require the operator to collect footage of other aspects of each game while not capturing live video. IMC – Athletics Videography and Photography Producer

This position is primarily responsible for capturing footage of Valparaiso University athletics game action that will be used to showcase the athletics department to different audiences; prospective students, current students, alumni and the community. The position would also be

called upon to photograph some events along with filming and editing interviews and other

IMC – Graduate Assistant Coordinator of Video Services

The Valparaiso University Athletic Department is seeking a graduate assistant responsible for

producing video and graphics that will be used to showcase our athletic programs to a variety of

audiences, including current and prospective students, alumni and the community. This position

Men’s Basketball Multimedia Internship

The Valparaiso University men’s basketball program, a member of the NCAA Division-I

Missouri Valley Conference, is seeking a multimedia intern who will lead and facilitate the

program’s digital media promotional and recruiting efforts including graphics, video and social

media. The intern will promote the program through all forms of new media, working closely with both the Valpo coaching staff and the Valpo athletic communications department. This position will be available for a stipend and/or class credit.
