Crusaders Clean Up as ITA Releases 2015 Academic Award Winners

Five members of the Valpo men's tennis team were named 2015 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the league office. Additionally, the Crusaders were one of just 78 squads nationwide - and the only Horizon League school - to earn distinction as an ITA All-Academic Team.

Kyle Dunn (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac), Brian Hickey (Western Springs, Ill./Fenwick), Daniel Oakes (Elburn, Ill./Saint Charles North), Michael Savaglio (Kenosha, Wis./Mary D. Bradford), and Jeffrey Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) all recorded grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher during the 2014-15 academic year. The Brown and Gold's five Scholar-Athletes totaled more than the rest of the Horizon League combined (3).

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any member program that possesses a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
