The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team fell 7-0 to Big Ten foe Purdue on Saturday evening in West Lafayette.
How It Happened
- Purdue (9-5) clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The third singles match went unfinished.
- The Boilermakers won all six singles matches in straight sets, but five of the six Valpo players won at least four games in at least one set.
- Senior Brandon Ancona (Belvidere, Ill. / Rockford Christian) played Purdue No. 1 singles player Julio Mateo to a tight first set, falling on a set tiebreak 7-6(4). Mateo won the second set 6-0.
Valpo (4-4) will head to Houston for its spring break trip, which starts against SMU on Sunday, March 1 at 3 p.m. CT.
