Matt Van Daele moved into a coaching role at Valparaiso University prior to the 2005 season after playing for the Brown and Gold for four years.
For the 2007 season, Van Daele will switch sides of the ball and assist in coaching the secondary for Valparaiso. He also will be responsible for assisting with the Crusaders strength and conditioning program.
During his first three seasons with the Crusaders, Van Daele was the wide receivers coach for the Brown and Gold. In his first season with the Crusaders, Van Daele led a First Team All-Pioneer Football League wide receiver for Valpo.
Van Daele played for the Crusaders from 2001 through 2004, where he was a four-year letterwinner as a fullback and tailback. He also returned kicks during his freshman campaign and was a member of the 2003 Pioneer Football League championship team.
Van Daele earned his bachelor’s degree at Valparaiso in physical education in 2005 and just completed his master’s degree in sports administration in the spring of 2008.
