Valparaiso University men’s golf sophomore Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) was recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference for his play during the final week of the regular season as he was named MVC Golfer of the Week on Thursday.

Delisanti tied for first place in a 75-player field before finishing as the individual runner-up based on a playoff tiebreak at this weekend’s Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Big Ten foe Penn State at the par-71, 7171-yard Blue Course in State College, Pa. 

Delisanti carded a 54-hole score of 207 (-6, 67-70-70) by finishing under par in each round. He helped Valpo finish as the team runner-up, just one stroke behind host Penn State, which won its home tournament for the eighth consecutive season. Delisanti earned his fourth top-2 finish of the season and the sixth of his career to go along with his 12th career top-10 finish. His 207 tied for the fourth-best 54-hole score in program history. He drained 12 birdies, tied for the third most in the tournament field. 

Delisanti earned his fourth MVC Golfer of the Week award this season and the fifth of his two-year collegiate career.

This week’s performance helped Delisanti finish the regular season with a scoring average of 71.47 that ranks second in the Missouri Valley Conference behind only his teammate Caleb VanArragon (70.90). The Beacons will open the MVC Championship on Sunday.
