Men’s Golf Quartet Named All-America Scholars
Head coach Dave Gring's team continued to earn recognition for academic and athletic performance.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf program continued its standard of academic excellence as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released its 2022-23 All-America Scholars on Wednesday.

Rising senior Mason Bonn (Sherwood, Ore. / Sherwood), junior Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield), fifth-year senior Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) and graduated senior Yianni Kostouros (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point [Ball State]) all earned the honor this year.

To be eligible for All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

These honors add to a long list of achievements both academically and athletically during a special season for Valpo men’s golf. The 2022-23 campaign saw the program shatter the modern single-season record for team scoring average while boasting a runner-up finish in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship for the second straight season. VanArragon (at-large) and Delisanti (automatic) both earned NCAA Regional appearances, while the team reached postseason play as part of the National Golf Invitational (NGI).
