Delisanti Named MVC Golfer of the Week After Final Fall Tournament

Valparaiso University men’s golf junior Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the first time this season and the sixth time in his collegiate career.

Teammate Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) was named MVC Golfer of the Week twice this fall, so the Beacons boasted MVC weekly awards following three of their four tournaments during the autumn docket.

Delisanti’s honor came after he tied for third in a competitive 62-player field at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic, posting a 54-hole score of 203 (-13) with a round-by-round line of 69-68-66. The tournament, which was hosted by George Washington at the par-72, 7141-yard Club Campestre Monterrey in Mexico, was the first event in program history held outside of the United States.

Delisanti tied for second in program history in 54-hole tournament score in relation to par with his performance this week. He helped Valpo compile a 54-hole team score of 843 (-22) that was one stroke away from the program’s 54-hole record and represented the team’s best 54-hole tournament since 2014. Delisanti eagled the par-5 fifth hole in Round 3.

The Beacons will begin the spring slate on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the TPC Dorado Beach Collegiate in Dorado, P.R.
