VanArragon Wins MVC Golfer of the Week for 19th and Final Time

For the 19th and final time in his distinguished collegiate career, Valparaiso University fifth-year senior Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) is the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week.

VanArragon, who set the Missouri Valley Conference record for career Golfer of the Week Awards, wins this one after taking medalist honors in a 78-player field in the final regular-season tournament of his five-year run of collegiate dominance – Penn State’s Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted at the par-71, 7171-yard Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa. VanArragon rallied to take the top spot after finishing Round 1 at t-13 and Round 2 at t-7. The tournament was played in windy conditions with sustained winds at 15-20 mph and gusts up to 35-40 mph.

VanArragon posted a 54-hole score of 210 (-3) with a round-by-round line of 74-70-66. This marked his 36th career top-10 finish, 25th career top-5 finish, 17th career top-2 finish and sixth career medalist trophy including his fourth this season. Valpo boasted the league’s MVC Golfer of the Week Award after eight of the team’s 10 tournaments this season, with VanArragon winning six times and Anthony Delisanti doing so twice.

VanArragon and the Beacons will compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship hosted by Missouri State beginning on Sunday, April 21 in Sunrise Beach, Mo.
