The Valparaiso University track & field program will host the annual Valpo Invite on Saturday.
The throws will take place at Eastgate Athletics Complex starting at 11 a.m., while the remaining events will occur at Warren G. Hoger Track beginning at noon. Live results via Michiana Timing will be available. The event will not feature team scoring and the field of teams includes Valpo, Milwaukee, UIC and Calumet College of St. Joseph.
This will mark Valpo’s seventh all-time meet at Warren G. Hoger Track, which was dedicated on Oct. 11, 2014. The facility features a state-of-the-art Rekortan all-weather surface and includes high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault and steeplechase areas. The lead gift for the project came from Jay Christopher ‘67, ‘99H, and was given in honor of Warren Hoger ‘53, who was a member of the Valpo track & field team as an undergraduate and enjoyed a long, distinguished career as the track & field coach at Walther Lutheran High School in Chicago.
Valpo hosted regular-season home meets in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2021 in addition to hosting the Horizon League Outdoor Championships in April 2016.
This will be the program’s final meet prior to the MVC Outdoor Championship, which is slated for May 13-15 in Des Moines, Iowa.
