John Marovich Inducted into Andrean High School Sports Hall of Fame
John Marovich was inducted into the Andrean Sports Hall of Fame last month.

Valpo soccer head coach John Marovich was one of eight inductees into the Andrean High School Sports Hall of Fame late last month, recognizing the success he enjoyed while building the 59ers’ girls soccer program, highlighted by a state championship match appearance.

Marovich was the first head coach in Andrean girls soccer history, leading the 59ers in their inaugural season of competition in 1994. He spent seven seasons as head coach at Andrean, posting an 85-35-3 record while earning two conference championships and three sectional titles.

His time on the sidelines was highlighted by the team’s run in 1999, as the 59ers won regional and semi-state titles en route to an appearance in the state title match. A three-time conference coach of the year, Marovich was named the NSCAA Indiana private/parochial school state Coach of the Year in 1999.

Following his time at Andrean, Marovich spent one season on staff at Notre Dame before joining the Valpo program. He has been part of the Valpo program for the last 20 seasons, including head coach for the last 14 campaigns. Marovich is Valpo’s career wins leader, having led the Brown and Gold to 113 victories during his tenure as head coach.
