For the second time this season, Valpo soccer sophomore Addy Joiner (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) has been named MVC Offensive Player of the Week after finding the back of the net in both of the Beacons’ road wins last weekend.
Joiner finished out Valpo’s come-from-behind win at Belmont on Thursday evening by winning a penalty kick in the 76th minute, stepping up to the spot and burying the penalty for the match-winner in the Beacons’ 2-1 victory over the Bruins. She followed on Sunday by striking back quickly after Murray State had taken the initial lead, knocking home a goal off a corner kick less than eight minutes after the Racers’ opening goal to account for the front half of Valpo’s 2-1 comeback win over MSU.
Joiner has tallied an MVC-best six goals on the season, all of which have come in reserve appearances. She has scored five goals in Valley play, one apiece in five of the Beacons’ six conference wins to date, and has found the back of the net in each of Valpo’s last three matches, becoming the program’s first to tally in three straight fixtures since Cory Griffith in 2017.
Joiner previously was named MVC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 26. Joiner’s honor is the seventh weekly award for a Valpo player this season.
