Wilson Named Mid-Con Co-Athlete of the Week

Valparaiso University's Melanie Wilson (Saint Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain H.S.) has been named a Mid-Continent Conference Co-Athlete of the Week after leading the Crusaders to a runner-up finish at the Chicagoland Championships on Friday.

The freshman set a pair of school records on the evening. She won the triple jump with a leap of 37'7 ¼" while finishing second in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.42 seconds, both bettering her own previous school marks. Wilson also finished fourth in the long jump with a jump of 17'6 ¾".

Wilson shared the weekly honor with Western Illinois' Aubrey Martin.

This marks the second time she Wilson has earned Co-Athlete of the Week honors, as she also received the award back on January 18.
