Women’s Tennis Rounds Out Regular Season on Sunday
Erin Staal played in her final match as a Crusader on Sunday.

The Valparaiso University women’s tennis concluded the regular season on Sunday morning at David Markin Tennis Courts in Peoria, Ill with a 7-0 setback to host Bradley. Senior Erin Staal (Grand Haven, Mich. / Grand Haven) played in her final match as a Crusader.

How It Happened

  • Halle Roach (Libertyville, Ill. / Libertyville) and Jordan Kopfer (Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) played together at No. 3 doubles for the second straight day and just the third time all season. They once again garnered Valpo’s lone win of the day, this time topping Bradley’s Victoria Gonzalez and Kinga Kovacs 6-4.
  • The Braves (5-14, 2-3) claimed the doubles point with wins on the other two courts.
  • Valpo (5-16, 0-5) also fell on all six singles courts. Dao Sysouvanh (Sun Prairie, Wis. / Sun Prairie) played the closest singles match of the day, coming up just shy in a 7-6(4), 6-4 loss to Malini Wijesinghe at No. 3.
  • Staal competed in the final match of her collegiate career at No. 6 singles.
