Czerwonka Earns MVC All-Select Team Status

Valparaiso University tennis senior Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) was recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference revealed its postseason awards on Thursday evening as she was tabbed to the MVC All-Select Team.

Czerwonka finished the campaign with a 17-7 record in singles play and a 17-11 doubles mark while playing the No. 1 position in both areas. This adds to her long list of career accolades that also includes 2021-22 MVC Player of the Year, All-MVC First Team (No. 1 Singles) and MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team; Fall 2021 MVC Flight 2 Singles and Flight 1 Doubles champion; 2020-21 MVC All-Select Team, MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team and Team MVP.

Czerwonka owns 11 career MVC weekly awards including two this season. She possesses 62 career doubles wins, second in program history behind only her sister Claire. She and Moira Silva had 17 doubles wins this year, tied for the seventh most in a single season in program history. Her 63 career singles wins rank second in the Valpo record book and are just two away from the program record. She is expected to return for her additional year of eligibility caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2023-24.

The team captain boasted 22 singles wins last year, the third most in a season in program history, and tied a program record for doubles wins in a season with 20. This marks the third straight year she has achieved all-conference honors.
